We have simulated seed-amplified emission in air in the forward direction using a pump laser pulse with a few millijoules of energy and a 50 fs duration. However, the significant asymmetry in lasing intensity between the forward and backward directions introduces notable differences. Since backward lasing is especially valuable for long-distance atmospheric diagnostics, it is crucial to thoroughly understand the source of this asymmetry to develop strategies that enable backward lasing in air. These observations are based on simulations rather than experimental data.
