Helix antenna is frequently used in satellite communication, as well as other communications that require circular polarization, robust and good navigational performance. However, as any other metal antenna, its properties are not adjustable once made. Here we conduct a simulation study on a plasma helix antenna. We replace the PEC with plasma of different densities, and the characteristics change significantly. On the surface, plasma helix seems inferior to metal helix, but that is based on the same operation frequency, which is not suitable. Once plasma is adopted, the operation frequency should also change.
